President: Rayann Eaves, PVM 2025

Rayann

Hi all! I’m honored to serve as this year’s CSU AABP President! I grew up on my family’s fifth generation dairy farm (where I fell in love with cattle and veterinary medicine). I was also inspired by my rural community & youth organizations (4H & FFA). I then chased my love of dairy cattle to the West Coast & “Cow”lifornia; graduating from UC Davis with my B.S. in Animal Science (Livestock & Dairy) minoring in Global Disease Biology. At CSU, AABP has helped shape me into the kind of student and veterinarian that I want to be. I enjoy leading and learning from others while creating opportunities in food animal medicine. I especially love leading our CSU AABP Quiz Bowl team and connecting with bovine practitioners from around the country. I am tracking “Large Animal” here and after graduation hope to practice Livestock & Regulatory Medicine. If you see me on campus – say hello & be sure to ask how you can get involved with AABP!

Vice President: Charolette Callon, PVM 2025

Charolette PIcHello! My name is Charlotte and I am a livestock-focused student at CSU, although I like to dabble in equine as well. I think I am living proof that you do not need to have grown up on a farm in order to find an interest in livestock medicine and agricultural in general. I am from a fairly large town in Massachusetts, about an hour from Boston. Growing up I had been to local farms and such, but all food animal production and even horses were pretty foreign to me. I got my undergraduate education at the University of Vermont where I tried out for the Equestrian Team with no riding experience and became their beginner rider! I realized I enjoyed staying late to help with medical treatments for horses, and soon changed my major to Animal Science. I also got involved in the CREAM program where students manage the university’s dairy herd. That is where my love of dairy started and is ultimately why I decided to go to vet school. After college I moved to Wyoming to work at a dude ranch near Jackson Hole, and completely fell in love with the west. I also worked at several small animal clinics since undergrad and really enjoyed those experiences, however I have realized my happy place is outdoors. I really encourage all students, no matter what their focus is, to get involved with AABP and AASRP events! You never know what you’ll fall in love with!

Treasurer: Tierra Mathews, PVM 2026

TierraI am this year’s treasurer for AABP and a second year vet student. I grew up in a small-ish town outside of San Diego and was involved in both 4-H and FFA. I moved to Fort Collins for my undergraduate degree and now have a B.S. in Animal Science from CSU. During a summer, I worked on a cow-calf operation in eastern Colorado, where I furthered my interest in agriculture. My favorite things about AABP are the wet labs and getting more involved with producers. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outside with my two dogs. After graduating, I hope to work in either large animal or mixed practice.

Secretary: Megan Schuster, PVM 2025

Megan S PIcWhile I was not raised in agriculture, due to my exposure during undergrad I have developed a deep passion for working with all livestock. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can, getting a wide range of experience, and having fun while doing so!

3rd Year Representative: Kaylin Perry-Spiker, PVM 2025

downloadThis year, I’m serving as the 3rd year representative for AABP. I’m from a small town in West Virginia, where my husband and I own and operate a commercial beef cattle and sheep operation. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and Nutrition from WVU. I plan to return home after vet school to focus on large animal medicine, following in my father-in-law’s footsteps. I’m very passionate about promoting agriculture and supporting my farming community!

2nd Year Representative: Branden Smith, PVM 2026

image0 (2)I was originally born in Yuma, AZ but moved to Cypress Texas pretty early in life and grew up there. Historically my family hasn’t been involved in Ag and my introduction to it came during high school. I’ve raised steers, a pig, and chickens but cattle were truly what I enjoyed the most. Through FFA I met several individuals who allowed me several unique opportunities ranging from showing in large circuit shows to managing a mini Hereford show barn. I took a short hiatus from Ag to go back to Arizona and got a B.S. from Arizona State in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. While attending I shadowed a dairy veterinarian and got the majority of my experience on site palpating, fixing some LDAs and curing hairy worts. I then moved here and began the journey to become a veterinarian while also being lucky enough to meet my future wife! My interest upon completion of my degree is to work in Wyoming with the beef and dairy industry.

1st Year Representative: Beau Jersild, PVM 2027

BeauMy name is Beau Jersild and I am from western Nebraska. I grew up raising Angus cattle on a family operation that my grandparents established. Today, my twin brother and I are developing a registered Angus cowherd with the goal of offering quality breeding pieces to other ranchers. Cattle reproduction has always been fascinating to me and I now own a cattle reproduction business as well. The countless opportunities and relationships that were molded through my involvement in the cattle industry have concreted my desire to work with cattle following my veterinary education. I plan to return to a rural area following my studies and to continually advocate for cattle production.

Palpation Team Coordinator: Jaylynn Tortorelli , PVM 2025

thumbnail_ImageJaylynn Tortorelli grew up east of Trinidad, Colorado on a cow/calf operation and (hay) farm. Growing up in the animal health industry, she understands the financial barriers that producers face and the importance of preventative medicine, good husbandry practices, and most importantly good stockmanship and horsemanship. She earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science at West Texas A&M University where she learned more about cattle feeding and the different challenges of that industry. She has also rodeoed her whole life first competing in little britches rodeos then college rodeo and now ranch rodeos/amateur rodeos in her “free” time competing in the breakaway and team roping. Upon graduation in May 2025, Jaylynn plans to start a large animal practice in southeastern Colorado with a primary focus on beef cattle and western performance/ranch horses.

Palpation Team Co-Coordinator: Robyn Hall , PVM 2026

RobynRobyn Hall grew up in Red Feather Lakes Colorado and this is where he passion for animals began. Robyn enjoys starting/training horses, raising goats and hanging out with friends. Robyn hope to stay in Colorado after graduation and pursue mixed animal medicine focusing on beef cattle, horses and dogs.

Media Manager: Brent Berthold, PVM 2026

IMG_5827Brent always jokes that he didn’t grow up in agriculture but he got there as fast as he could. Originally from Parker, Colorado Brent like many people grew up 2 generations from raising cattle. Always fascinated with this aspect of life Brent worked on a dude ranch and then a working cattle ranch while pursuing his bachelors of Animal Science at CSU. Upon completion of this he was accepted to CSU’s vet school where he continues to grow his passion for beef cattle and horses. Brent has no desire to work with cats or dogs and wants to practice general large animal medicine where ever the opportunity arrises. Outside of school Brent enjoys, roping, spending time with his girlfriend and being outside in general. Brent is enjoying fumbling his way through being the media manager which is a step outside his comfort zone.
